Bet types: singles, accumulators and systems
Before looking at odds, it helps to know what kind of slip you are building. On a phone, the slip fills with taps on odds, and it is easy to end up with a five-leg accumulator when you wanted two singles. This guide explains the common bet types with worked examples and how to review the slip before confirming.

One selection, one price. 20 units at 2.00 returns 40 if it wins. It is the easiest bet to control and the basis of any orderly budget.
Accumulator bets: how they work
Several selections in one slip; the odds multiply. Three legs at 1.80 give total odds of about 5.83: 20 units would return roughly 117. The catch is probability: if each leg had a 55% chance, all three landing together falls to around 17%. One miss loses the whole slip.
Handicap and over/under markets
A handicap gives one team a head start or deficit to even out a match; over/under bets on whether a figure — goals, points, games — passes a line. Half-point lines such as 2.5 rule out a push. They are useful in matches with a clear favourite, where the straight win odds would be very short.
System bets and choosing your format
A system bet groups several small accumulators. A "2 from 3" system with three selections creates three doubles: land two of three and one double pays. Each combination costs your per-line stake, so the slip as a whole is more expensive than it looks on screen.
Building a slip on a phone without mistakes
- Before tapping any odds, decide whether you want singles or an accumulator.
- Open the slip after each selection to see what was added.
- Check the bet type is the one you wanted: many apps switch to accumulator automatically.
- Enter the stake per bet and look at the slip total.
- Confirm and check the bet in your history.
Stake size and record keeping
A fixed stake per bet, small relative to your monthly budget, is the simplest way to stay in control. And keep a record: type, odds, stake and result. After a month, that record says more about how you bet than any streak.
